Welcome

Welcome to my new blog. I hope to keep you informed with up to date happenings in my meetings. I will try to post some motivating items, hopefully shared by you. I will also try and put some of the positive sayings and ideas shared in meetings. Hopefully I will post some recipes that are yummy and are favorites. Life happens and some weeks are busier than others so bare with me if I fall behind. I am new at doing this so it will be very simple at least in the beginning.
I will close for now with this thought (our saying for March). "If you kinda do it, it kinda works, if you really do it, it really works."  Have a Happy Day!!!

  1. I hope everyone got a chance to get out and enjoy the beautiful day and get a start on their training for the 5K (3.1mile) Walk-it Challenge. I am planning to host a 5K on Sunday May 22, 2011 at 7:00 AM yes I said 7:00 AM. Last year we had 80 people who came out and did the walk. This year I am sure we will see more!!! I am thinking we will start at Pershing Middle School, Just off Seminole (SE) Springfield and walk the green way trail. I will give you more details in the upcoming weeks.   2. I did get outside. Started with learning how to hula hoop with my new hoop (spent more time picking it up off the ground),but that is exercise. Then I used my new weedeater I got for Christmas and push mowed my yard for the first time this year. Then went for two laps around my block (1-mile). Ended the days chasing my kids around (that counts, right) :)

  3. ok I just posted and it dissappeared so I don't know what I did wrong. Hope you are all getting into training for the 5K. What great weather we are having to start our training. I wanted to let you know that we are having 2 times and places on the 22nd of May to walk. The first time is 7a.m. at Pershing Middle school. I will be at this walk. At 2:00 in the afternoon at Close Park (Nathaniel Greene) there will be some other walkers. Leader Nancy will be walking with this group. Take care enjoy your evening and take some special ME time for yourself. I just fininshed walking with my wonderful Husband, something we started doing last week. Wonderful quality time together.   4. 2 point Vegetable Soup recipe from a special member who makes this on a regular basis.

    In a small amount of olive oil, sauté 1 large chopped onion , about 1 cup chopped celery, and 1 cup sliced carrots until onions begin to brown.

    In crock pot put 2 cans beef broth (I use low sodium), 1 can diced tomatoes (also low sodium), 1 can pinto beans (drained), 2 cups shredded cabbage, and some frozen green beans. Add 1Ž2 tsp. basil, 1Ž4 tsp. oregano or Italian seasoning, 1 tsp. minced garlic, pepper and salt if desired. Add the sauted veggies.



    Cook on high for about an hour and low until time to serve. Makes 8 servings.
